RECOVERY & RESILIENCE

The state must not only prepare itself for increasingly frequent and costly natural disasters, but also plan ahead to make our critical industries and vibrant communities more resilient. To address our disaster response and recovery issues, we should:

  • Continuing investing in coastal restoration and protection projects;

  • Seeking more affordable homeowners insurance;

  • Reforming rules that promote lawsuits and excessive claims;

  • Investing in better flood protection infrastructure and hardened electrical grids to minimize the impact of future storms;

  • Supporting and rewarding the fortified roof program;

  • Enforcing building codes that make homes and businesses more resistant to severe weather conditions.
